ICE/Nymex rivalry deepens over softs

A hard-fought battle over soft commodities looks set to deepen the rivalry between IntercontinentalExchange (ICE) and the New York Mercantile Exchange (Nymex).

Nymex is now offering cash-settled versions of some of the New York Board of Trade's (Nybot) flagship futures contracts – cocoa, coffee, cotton, frozen concentrated orange juice and two different sugar futures. These will be traded side-by-side on Nymex's own floor, as well as the Chicago Mercantile Exchange's electronic Globex platform.
