Brett Humphreys
Karbone
Head of risk management
Brett Humphreys is head of risk management at Karbone. From 2022 through 2024, he was head of commodity risk for the hedge fund Citadel. From 2008 to 2022, he worked in multiple roles at Morgan Stanley including global chief risk officer in Morgan Stanley’s commodities division and chief operating officer for Morgan Stanley’s fixed income Asia ex-Japan division. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Humphreys was a founding partner in the risk management consulting firm Risk Capital Management. He received a B.A. in Physical Sciences from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Mineral Economics from the Pennsylvania State University. He resides in Westchester County, New York.

Vince Kaminski
Rice University
Professor of energy risk management
Vince Kaminski is a professor in energy risk management at Jesse H Jones Graduate School of Business at Rice University in Houston, Texas. Between 2005 and 2006 he was the managing director of quantitative modelling at Citigroup Commodities, after holding positions at Reliant Energy, Sempra Energy, Citadel Investment Group and Enron where he worked for 10 years leading a team of 50 quantitative specialists modelling exotic options and hedging commodity and interest rate exposures. Prior to that, from 1986 to 1992, Kaminski was a vice president in the bond portfolio analysis group at Salomon Brothers. Trained in economics and mathematics, Kaminski has held teaching posts around the world including in his native Poland, Nigeria, the US and New Zealand. He has also been a Visiting Scholar at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington, DC.

Glenn Labhart
Labhart Risk Advisors
Senior partner
Glenn Labhart is the senior partner at Labhart Risk Advisors, an advisory firm specialising in business valuation, risk management, model validation, and compliance for all energy markets from a diverse client base. From 1997 to 2004, Labhart was the chief risk officer at Dynegy and head of risk at El Paso Energy/Tenneco. His background involves asset management and hedging programs on global physical supply for natural gas, power, LNG, crude, and refined products. His regulatory experience is from testimony with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and Department of Justice. Labhart is active in public speaking, interacting with ratings agencies, buy and sell side analysts, banks, boards of directors and senior business personnel.

Shawnie McBride
NRG
Chief risk officer
As chief risk officer for NRG, Shawnie McBride is committed to fostering a culture of risk awareness and accountability while aligning risk management initiatives with NRG’s strategic objectives. Prior to this, McBride led sales operations for NRG Business, delivering key sales insights, leveraging technology to optimize pipeline conversion and ensuring a superior customer experience. She has led large-scale business change initiatives from design through execution. Previously McBride served as Direct Energy’s chief risk officer. During her 25+ years in the energy industry, McBride has held a variety of risk management, IT, sales operations and wholesale commercial positions with NRG, Direct Energy, Vistra (formerly Energy Future Holdings/TXU), Mirant Corporation, and Enserch Energy. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Texas A&M University.

Tuncay Pekin
MN8 Energy
Head of risk management
Tuncay Pekin is the head of risk management at MN8 Energy (formerly Goldman Sachs Renewable Power). He pioneered the application of portfolio risk management in the energy sector during the transition into greener energy. Before joining MN8 Energy, Pekin held positions in companies including Duke Energy, Shell, Dow Chemical and the AES Corporation. His experience covers commodities, power, foreign exchange, interest rates and credit. His areas of expertise include enterprise risk assessment, portfolio risk management and analytics, risk quantification and risk metrics, risk strategy, risk capital allocation, hedge optimization, large-scale Monte Carlo simulation systems, machine learning and risk management policies. Pekin earned his Ph.D. in Management Engineering from the Istanbul Technical University, Turkey. He graduated from Bogazici University in Istanbul with an M.A. in Economics and a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.

Riccardo Rossi
Centrica Energy
Head of Southern Europe Origination
Riccardo Rossi is the head of Southern Europe Origination at Centrica Energy. Rossi is an economist and energy commodity markets expert. Since 2020 he has been leading the renewables origination activities in Southern Europe for Centrica Energy. He joined the Centrica Group in 2017 as head of energy trading regulation, leading a team of international experts advising on trading, route-to-market and liquefied natural gas market rules. He worked for Gazprom Marketing & Trading between 2013 and 2017 with responsibility for energy trading regulation. He developed his experience in energy markets in the E.ON group in Dusseldorf and Milan. He started his career in energy trading in Dalmine Energie (Tenaris Group). He has been a member of the board of Energy Traders Europe since 2023.

Federica Strumia-Michelini
Targray
Senior director of risk management
Federica Strumia-Michelini is the senior director of risk management at sustainable energy services firm Targray. She also sits on the board of Carbon Offset Certification, an independent certification standard for carbon offsetting. From July 2009 to 2024, Strumia-Michelini was the head of market risk management at Neste. Prior to that she was a senior energy risk analyst at Cargill and an oil analyst at Sempra. Between 2001 and 2002, Strumia-Michelini worked as a quantitative analyst of European power markets at TXU Energy. Her studies and research include two years spent at CERN researching elementary particle physics, a topic she researched for her PhD awarded from the University of Geneva. She holds several professional education qualifications from MIT in sustainability, environmental impact and technology.

Răzvan Tudor
Electrica
Director of risk management and KYC
Răzvan Tudor is director of risk management and KYC at Electrica. He has over 30 years’ experience leading and transforming organizations within energy and financial sectors. His key achievements include turning -€440 million EBITDA into +€187M in <6 months at Electrica Furnizare in 2022; delivering the first green Eurobonds issuance at Electrica in 2025; delivering a €1billion+ infrastructure upgrade project on budget; building, from scratch, the risk management department at Hidroelectrica; and setting up agricultural and energy trading pits at the Romanian Commodities Exchange. Tudor has served on boards and ESG advisory committees, has published on blockchain in energy transition (2023) and operational risk (2019) and received the Business Excellence Award & Best Paper Award (2017). His PhD Studies were in operational risk management at ASE, Bucharest.
