China disputes IEA energy data

China has dismissed an International Energy Agency (IEA) report that says it has superseded the US as the world's largest energy user and suggested that the IEA's data on Chinese energy supply and demand was "unreliable".

"The IEA's data on China's energy use is unreliable," said Zhou Xian, an official at China's National Energy Administration (NEA), at a press conference. However, Zhou did say that IEA's data could be used as a "reference".
