LME hires senior executives for clearing effort

The London Metal Exchange (LME) has hired two senior executives as part of a plan to clear its own trades from 2014.

Currently, trades executed on the LME are cleared by London-based clearing firm LCH.Clearnet. In December 2011, the LME took the decision to begin clearing its own trades – a move it argues will improve the exchange’s strategic position and provide more flexibility when it comes to launching new products.
