This year’s winner of Oil and Products House of the Year is a relative newcomer to the market. Launched in 2004, Mercuria Energy Group has grown in just five years to become one of the five largest independent energy-only traders in the world in terms of turnover. For the past four consecutive years turnover has increased, reaching $46 billion in 2008. This was a 37% increase from 2007 – a particularly impressive achievement given the economic climate.
