ExxonMobil: Energy consumption set to soar by 2030

Global energy consumption is set to be 35% higher in 2030 than it was in 2005 despite the economic slowdown and anticipated improvements in energy efficiency, according to an annual report published by oil and gas company ExxonMobil.

The outlook for energy: a view to 2030 found global energy demand is expected to rise by 1.2% each year to 2030, driven by population and economic growth.

In non-OECD countries, rapid economic growth is expected to produce a steep climb in energy demand of 65%
