Anderson returns to Duke as chairman and chief executive Duke Energy, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has appointed Paul Anderson – a self-professed turnaround expert – as chairman and chief executive, effective November 1. He replaces Richard Priory, who will retire early next year, after working with Anderson during a transition period. Anderson had previously served as president and chief operating officer of Duke immediately after the 1997
