UtiliCorp becomes Aquila, focuses on risk

UtiliCorp United, an international power and gas company with customers and operations across the US and in Canada, the UK, New Zealand, Australia, Germany and Scandinavia, has changed its name to Aquila, the name of its wholly-owned subsidiary that focuses on wholesale energy trading and risk management services. The Aquila business unit will now be called Aquila Merchant Services.

The name change – on March 18 – reflects the strategic focus of the re-combined company, says a company
