Turning Points: Nicholas O’Kane, global head of Macquarie Group’s Energy Markets Division
N icholas O'Kane was promoted to co-head of the energy markets division of Australian bank Macquarie Group in 2007, taking sole control of the business later that year. Under O'Kane, the energy operations have expanded and currently encompass key markets such as physical and financial natural gas, coal, oil trading and power.
The acquisition of US-based Constellation Energy's downstream natural gas trading operations announced in February 2009 served to cement Macquarie's position in the US
