Jeffrey Butrico’s first brush with the energy industry was in the 1980s when he was an investment banker with Bear Stearns in New York. He helped put together a financing deal for a New York company called Oxford Energy, which operated a generation plant in California that fed on waste tyres – the disposal of which was a big problem at the time. But it wasn’t until a number of years later, in the early 2000s, that he really became involved in energy trading and risk management field.
