Future of European shale gas market on shaky ground?
Energy giant ExxonMobil’s complete withdrawal from shale gas exploration in Poland is being viewed by many analysts as a bearish signal for the health of the shale industry in Europe.
ExxonMobil, which holds six licences to explore shale gas in Poland, four in the Podlasie basin in the east and two in the Lublin basin in south Poland, ended its activities in June after tests failed to find shale gas in sufficient quantities to be commercially viable.
