The “good times” are over in European energy and commodity trading, and will not return in the near future, according to Markus Krebber, the chief financial officer of RWE Supply & Trading, the trading unit of Essen-based utility giant RWE.

The rise of renewable generation and a raft of financial rules are "dramatically changing the landscape in energy trading with massive consequences”, he said, during a keynote address at Energy Risk Europe in London on October 8.
