Enel eyes UK gas market
Italian utility Enel is reportedly looking to enter the UK gas wholesale market. An Enel spokesman was quoted in a Reuters report saying that: "Enel thinks the UK gas market is very interesting for trading opportunities."
A spokesperson confirmed to Energy Risk that Enel has applied to UK energy regulator Ofgem for a gas shipping licence. This does not refer to booking capacity on the Interconnector pipeline, but is a general licence to trade wholesale gas in the UK.
