Ask an energy trader’s opinion of German natural gas market liberalisation, and the answer is doom-laden. “Technically the market is 100% open, but only on paper,” says Jörg Spicker, head of energy traders’ association EFET Deutschland and lately appointed as a board member at Swiss-German utility Atel.
