Germany is changing the way it trades pipeline capacity, in an ambitious plan led by the German Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) to secure non-discriminatory third-party access to the country's gas grid. In theory, this will prevent vertically-integrated energy companies - which own both generation and transmission capacity - from dominating the gas market through ownership of infrastructure.
