Henry Hub futures activity surges

On Monday, February 7, natural gas futures reached a record 510,442 contracts on Nymex, passing 500,000 contracts for the first time. The previous record for volume in Nymex Henry Hub futures was 475,466 contracts on January 20, 2011.
This is part of an overall growth trend for the complex, according to the exchange, with Henry Hub natural gas futures and options combined volume increasing by 25% year-on-year. January average daily volume was 440,882 contracts last month, versus 351,720 contracts
