Algorithmic trading will come to coal and natural gas, says exchange president

Algorithmic trading will eventually spread to energy futures outside oil once a baseline level of liquidity has been achieved, said David Peniket, president and chief operating officer of ICE Futures Europe, in an interview with Energy Risk on Monday.

"Algorithmic traders are normally trading to be flat. You try to open the day flat and close the day flat, so you need to trade in a market that is already highly liquid, and there is a limit to the number of markets that are available for that
