GHG allowances could cost $191 by 2030
The EIA, which provides official US Government energy statistics, released an analysis of current US climate change legislation this week, examining the possible impact using six scenarios.
It said allowance prices could range from $20 to $93 per metric ton in 2020 and from $41 to $191 per metric ton in 2030 (in 2007 dollars). Exact prices would depend on the use of nuclear energy and carbon capture and storage technology.
