Mixed opinion over compensation for energy intensive firms

Energy-intensive firms in the UK will be given £250 million to compensate for increasing energy prices due to the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and the proposed carbon price floor of £16/tonne in 2013. The announcement was made in the Autumn Statement this week by UK chancellor of the exchequer, George Osbourne.
