The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has significantly stepped up its surveillance of the derivatives markets in recent years, a high-tech initiative that has contributed to its efforts to prosecute market manipulation, spoofing and other forms of wrongdoing.
With a team of more than 50 people, the surveillance branch of the CFTC's Division of Market Oversight (DMO) has extended its reach into new markets, developed automated tools to run forensic analyses of unusual trading
