In December 2025, independent system operator (ISO) the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (Ercot), introduced a long-awaited change to Texas’s electricity market, known as Real-Time Co-Optimization + Batteries (RTC+B). Under the sweeping reforms, which reshape how energy and grid reliability services are priced and dispatched in Texas, energy and ancillary services can now be co-optimised every five minutes in the real-time market. Prior to RTC+B they could only be co-optimised in the day
