US Senate rejects energyderivatives legislation

The US Senate last month voted down proposed legislation that sought to imposetighter controls over energy derivatives trading.

Senators voted 56 to 41 against an amendment included in an agriculture spendingbill by Democrat senator for California Dianne Feinstein to improve transparencyin the energy trading markets. It was the third time Feinstein had pushed forstricter federal regulation in energy and commodity derivatives markets. Thisfollows a push to introduce the Energy Market
