Fortum to buy Eon’s Finnish subsidiary

Fortum is using a call option to buy Eon’s majority stake. Fortum received the option to buy the shares as part of compensation it received from a deal made with E.on in 2002. Under that agreement, Eon bought Fortum Energie, Fortum’s German subsidiary, which owned utility assets in Germany.

The exact purchase price of Eon Finland depends on the Eon subsidiary’s net results and dividend distribution for 2004.
