Czech power trader challenges Slovak export fee

Czech power trading company Lumius has instigated legal action against Slovakian transmission system operator SEPS, challenging a power export fee of around EUR9 (US$14) per megawatt hour imposed by SEPS from January 2008.

The fee is applicable to electricity exports declared at the border between the Czech Republic and Slovakia, to companies that, according to a Slovak government ruling made in July 2007, "cannot prove that the exported electricity was imported to the designated territory
