GM&T enters German power market

Gazprom Marketing & Trading (GM&T) confirmed that the company had begun power trading in Germany, Europe's biggest electricity market, on March 21.

'As well as being the biggest power market in Europe, Germany is attractive to us because it borders eight countries, including France and the Netherlands, and serves as a hub for cross-border power flows', says Keith Martin, GM&T's head of trading. 'Our vision is to be the leading global energy trader'.

Germany becomes the third European country in which GM&T is trading power. The company started power trading in the UK in October 2006 and in France in February 2007.
