750 MW Welsh wind farm given go ahead

The wind farm will be situated 13 km out to sea and will be second biggest in the world, after the London Array being built off the coast of Kent by E.ON and DONG Energy. Npower anticipates that construction of Gwynt y Mor will begin in 2011 and be completed by 2014.

"This is an important step towards realising this ambitious project," says managing director of npower renewables Paul Cowling. "The decision underlines the Government's commitment to massively expanding renewable energy generation
