The waiting game

After seemingly countless delays, the Italian electricity market has openedto competition, with the launch of the country’s power exchange on April1. But while liquidity is growing impressively fast among energy suppliers, energyconsumers are still waiting for their chance to trade.

The original target for the market to open to the demand side was July 1, butit has now been put back to September 1 – and even that date is not guaranteed.There could be delays due to despatching procedures
