Founded in 1999, US-based Genscape has pioneered a technique for monitoring power transmission from plants and then distributing the information in real-time to power traders. It does so using devices placed in the vicinity of power stations that monitor production levels out of the plant.

The company was set up by Sean O'Leary and Sterling Lapinski, energy traders frustrated with the lack of transparency in the US electricity market.

Since 1999 the company has installed a network of over 1,200
