DOE moves forward on CCS

Energy Secretary Steven Chu today confirmed details of the agreement with FutureGen Alliance, a public-private partnership consisting of the largest coal producers and users in the world, including BHP Billiton, American Electric Power, E.on US and China Huaneng Group.

The plant will be built in Mattoon, Illinois and the DOE will contribute $1.073 billion to the project, including $1 billion from Recovery Act funds for CCS research.
