CantorCO2e’s carbon closure signals consolidation

UK carbon trading firm CantorCO2e, owned by global brokerage Cantor Fitzgerald, has announced the closure of its UK carbon trading desk in a move that analysts say signals the beginning of a wave of consolidation in the market.

“The carbon market is already overpopulated with interdealer brokers, chasing around clients when there was only a finite amount of business,” says Andrew Ager, head of carbon trading at UK carbon trading firm Bache Commodities.
