BarCap advises carbon market to use UK registries

UK registries are the safest place to trade carbon, Barclays Capital advised its clients on Monday.

Louis Redshaw, head of environmental markets in London, told Bloomberg that security in the UK is better than in other European countries and there is more chance of getting your stolen credits back.

Not all brokers agreed. "It could well be a bit of PR – perfect timing to get some feelers out there and some names in lights," said a carbon broker who wished to remain anonymous.
