Carbon exchanges test Asian ground

Several Western exchanges have signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Asian authorities in recent months in anticipation of the growth of emissions trading in the region.

Billed as a first step towards creating an international exchange, NYSE's Paris-based environmental exchange Bluenext and the China-Beijing Environmental Exchange signed an agreement on June 18, 2009 to share the latter's database of Chinese clean development mechanism (CDM) projects.
