Nasdaq OMX completes emissions contract offering

Nasdaq OMX Commodities has launched a new physical certified emission reduction (CER) spot contract on its Nord Pool carbon trading platform from November 20.

"The CER spot supplements our existing carbon offering and we now offer a full set of EU emission allowance (EUA)  and CER forwards and spot contracts," says Fredrik Voss, vice-president of business development and carbon markets.

The CER spot contract will be traded through the electronic trading system PowerClick and through Nord Pool's helpdesk.

The new contract will be listed along with the existing physical EU emission allowance spot contract, the EUA forwards contracts for 2009–2014, the CER forwards contract 2009–2012 and the CER/EUA swaps and strips for 2009–2012.

The full range of both spot and forwards carbon contracts are also offered on Paris-based exchange Bluenext, London-based European Climate Exchange, Leipzing-based EEX and Oslo-based Nord Pool.
