‘Revolutionary’ voluntary carbon platform won’t transform market, say experts

The Carbon Trade Exchange (CTX), launched on 7 June, will target small- to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), not regulated under the European Union's Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS), looking to offset their carbon emissions through the use of Voluntary Emission Reductions (VERs). The founders claim the platform will bring much-needed transparency to the voluntary carbon markets, which until now have been restricted to the over-the-counter (OTC) markets.
