This year’s Deal of the Year, Asia, goes to Deutsche Bank for a complex asset-backed hedge on the purchase of a US offshore oil producing asset for a South Korean client. Completed in the first quarter of 2012, the bank believes the deal to be the largest commodities risk management transaction completed in Asia this year.
As the bank’s mergers and acquisitions team, acting for the oil-producing buyer, moved towards the end of an 18-month purchase process, the Singapore-based commodities team
