UK businesses relieved over CRC’s dumping of carbon trade

Risk managers at UK Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC)-compliant businesses will ‘breathe a sigh of relief' if the government goes ahead with plans to scrap the cap-and-trade element of the scheme, says market participants.

Government climate change watchdog – the Committee on Climate Change (CCC) – has suggested removing the cap-and-trade element of the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme to simplify procedures for UK businesses and encourage the participation of smaller entities.
